Holiday Weight Gain Tips
This really is unsurprising and all of us know what causes winter weight gain - we eat a lot more calories than we burn. It's fun to celebrate the holidays along with eat and become merry. My diet and I'm sure many people much like me continue things i call the “See Food Diet”, you know... this diet when you see food, you consume it. Then you will find the folks much like me who eat things simply to show the host appreciation for that appetizer or dish they prepared. We really have to limit ourselves to simply using a bite or a really small serving, that is difficult to do... I know.
Putting on the weight is much easier than losing weight, so what we really have to do is control ourselves from putting on the weight. There always appears to be more food around during the holidays so if you're a border-line food addict, it's pretty simple to nibble and cookies, candy, leftovers all day long. Adding just a little stress and worry to all that and we find ourselves eating into oblivion. With that said... all those foods going in the mouth area have to be controlled or weight gain gets unmanageable and losing it might be even more complicated.
Try to stick with foods that give you nutritional value and employ good sense whenever you pick up food. Don't just toss it in your mouth... look at it and get yourself if is this loaded with sugar, fat and carbs? Look for a veggie tray and revel in those while everyone around you eats all the high sugar snacks away. Be careful using the drinks, they often consist of calories. Holiday drinks, both alcoholic and non-alcoholic drinks in many cases are made to look and taste yummy and never with your waist line in perspective.
In case your house is like our home... there is candy, homemade cookies, chocolate, eggnog, cakes, pastries and more everywhere you go. The thing you have to consider here is the sugar. Sugar is empty calories and also the less you are able to put in the mouth area, the better. Try and eat foods which will improve your metabolism. You need to treat your body like a temple! Think about the body as a high end sports vehicle. You are going to only place the best gas and oil inside it and absorb it for check-ups as scheduled. If you're car was Fifteen years old and full of rust... you probably would buy the cheap gas and end up forgetting about the check-ups right? So, when food enters your mouth, ask yourself if this is exactly what you'd feed your high performance sports body?
